Tyler's Birthday

Tyler always copies me each year and has his birthday in July. I guess it's just a good month . However instead of just a birthday, we had a birthday weekend! He started it off with skating on Thursday with Evan, then we had our deck party on Friday. For the main event though, we had some of Tyler's friends over and had a grand ole' time. The next day of course we had to go to the flow rider again for Tyler's actual birthday.

I was lame and only got photos of Tyler's birthday, but that's the most important anyway, right??

Mommy and Son

When Elijah was about 8 months we did a quick photo shoot with my cousin Amber. I have to say my little guy is the cutest thing since kittens.

9 Months

Can babyhood get any more fun?? Eljiah is officially 9 months old. He's learning and growing so fast. It's incredible. He's clapping now, signing 'bye bye', 'milk', 'done', he understands 'eat', and he's starting 'please'. Any of the food associated words makes him lick his lips-it's hilarious. He's trying soooo hard to walk. He stands without holding on for quite a few seconds, and tries to take a step, however he seems to enjoy just falling into our waiting arms while laughing.

He's doing so great on his schedule and with his new sitter. We officially hired a nanny. She's been amazing. She comes to our home and takes care of him. I come home to feed him lunch. She'll also help with light housework. It's completely taken so much stress from me. Good decision? Hands down, YES!

Play by play of this past month? I think so.

With the deck stairs finally done, curiosity won the best of Elijah. He learned how to go down stairs...frontwards.

Good oral hygiene is important. He loves brushing his teeth in the morning with Mommy.

We watched Dakota's special Olympics. Elijah did really well with his schedule adjustment. Much better than when we went to Autocross

Our favorite new toy is this mirror in the car. We got it before he was born but only just put it up correctly this month. He loves it and so do we! It gives us hours of peekaboo entertainment, and of course makes me car sick.
 Visiting Grandma, Grandpa, and Corinne

Taking thumb sucking to an extreme. At least mainly during nap time

Check out that hair above his ears. It's finally growing. Too bad he looks like Frank on 'Everybody Loves Raymond'. At least he's a much cuter version!

LOVE these chunks!

Finally trimming the hair. Tyler said this didn't count as his first hair cut. I wanted to be safe and at least document it.

He loves to thrash in his crib. Two dents marking the crib slats is not uncommon. It's horrible and silly at the same time. When will this boy learn!

He's eating big boy food! He loves pasta and grilled cheese sandwiches.

He's still in love with the remote. It's his lovey.

Oh, and he's also in big boy jammies now. At least for the summer!

He found his tongue and stuck it out for at least a week straight. Hilarious boy!

The Best Daddy A Boy Could Have

Father's day was a fun day to celebrate how awesome of a father Tyler is. I woke up early to make him breakfast in bed (how is that comfortable by the way??). I guess a water bed isn't the best for this.

Anyway, complete with limeade and cinnamon rolls-two of his favorite things, Elijah and I brought breakfast into him. One of his gifts was a mug with Elijah's photo on it. The rest of the day was dedicated to Tyler as much as he would allow (he still wanted to work on the deck).

I really do feel so blessed that my precious little boy has such an amazing father. You can tell how much Tyler loves Elijah. He loves spending time with him. He misses him after a long day of work. He LOVES waking him up and saying good night. They're the best of friends.

Celebrate!!

We had a great Independence Day! It was packed full of activities that had me WORN OUT by the end of the night. It's great having a day off work, but going back to work the next day was pretty much life-threatening.

We started the day off at the Lindon City Aquatics Center (fancy word for pool). Tyler is obsessed with this place because of their flow-rider. We met up with Abbie and Evan and had a jolly good time. This was Elijah's first time in a pool and we were shocked by how much he LOVED it. He wasn't scared at all...acted like he wanted to dive right in and start swimming and pretty much created an Olympic sport out of splashing. He of course couldn't nap somewhere so exciting so we left a little early and he was out as soon as that tush hit the car seat.

After he got a little shut eye at home we headed to my mom's for a 4th of July BBQ with my whole family. As I said before, Jenny's family was in town so Greg's whole crew was there. It feels like his kids are more like siblings lately. I love it. We let Elijah play on the slip & slide a little more and he practiced his splashing.

Next up was the fireworks at the Stadium of Fire. My sis found some great grass seating right next to the stadium under the fireworks. All my family came along with Tyler's family. We got to listen to the Beach Boys and even had a good view of the stage.

The fireworks were beautiful. The flag was lighted and right in the front of the explosions celebrating July 4, 1776. It gave me chills. Elijah was okay with the first few, but after that got completely freaked out and practically jumped for me. Did I mention that he was exhausted, it was about 10 p.m. which is FAR past his bed time. After just a few seconds of nestling against my chest he was out. During all those loud bangs...he snoozed. He NEVER sleeps in our arms so this was such a gift to me.

It was a busy day, but fantastic none the less.
