Month 6

Elijah turned 6 months about 3 weeks ago. Obviously I'm a little behind, but as long as I post this by month 7, I'm okay-right?? Here's the latest run down.

Elijah started eating solids at 5.5 months. I wanted to wait until 6, but he's a big hungry guy. He first tried carrots-which aren't his favorite, then avocado-which he seems to like. His favorite this far is pears. He makes 'mmm mmm' sounds when eating them. We're making most of our own baby food which actually isn't as hard as you would think. I think more than anything just switching over to solids has been challenging. We're so used to just milk and nursing; solids brings a whole new dynamic.

We made the first trips(of many to come I assume) to the skate park with Tyler. Daddy taught him a thing or two.

A sad time in this past month was when we stopped using Dawn Alor as his child care provider during the days. We all love her so much and are so thankful to her for being such a good sitter. We're so thankful that she was there our first few months-it made it so much easier to leave him during the day.

We wish her the best though in Oregon and hope to see her soon.

He became very good at sucking his thumb when sleeping. It's so cute, I just can't see it as a bad habit yet.
He became a professional 'jumpa jumpa'. Here he is hanging with his peeps Kyra and Kayla.
He learned to army crawl. He get's around now. Nothing is safe.

Hanging with Aunty Corinne.

Played with Daddy.

Became the coolest little dude while enjoying the spring weather.

Is in the process of learning the piano.

Hung out with mommy and her friends at City Creek during the best 2 weeks off work ever.

Did a lot of playing...and then a lot of resting.

Put Me In Overalls

I'm officially a gardener. I just planted my first vegetable garden (of my own)! We grew up with a large one but I only cared about the beautiful pumpkins. My poor mother did the rest of the work. I've been buying some organic produce and trying to eat more vegetables so I thought this was a great way to try to save some money.

We planted Kale, Spinach, Red Peppers, Green Peppers, Basil, Cilantro, Parsley, and Zucchini. I'm so excited to start eating it! Fresh and Natural. Yum!

Visting the Farm

I've been on a search for local, organic produce and dairy. I want our family to eat cleaner and more nutritious. Local produce is much more nutritious due to traveling shorter distance. Organic produce usually reduces the pesticides on produce, is usually non GMO, and usually chemical free. See my doubtfulness? Well the best way to really know what's in your food, is to go to the source. I was very happy when I heard of a new farm in north Provo, La Nay Ferme, where I could do just that.

See what I mean?

Elijah and I went for a tour of the farm during my time off. He of course had to be in proper attire. His onesie says "home grown'. We had a great time. It was a fun outside, spring activity to close our 2 weeks together.
