California with the boys

While Lacey was in Forks, WA with Abby, Tyler and his friends took a road trip to the sunny beaches of California. Tyler, Evan, Micah, and Steve climbed in the car and drove to Laguna beach. They camped out on the beach and had a great time skimboarding, boogie boarding, etc.

So you thought I was obsessed before...

I think most of you know that I LOVE Twilight. My dear friend Abby introduced me last November. It's been a fun ride since. We thought it would be great fun if we took a trip to where Twilight took place...Forks, WA. We had a BLAST.

We landed in Seattle and took a ferry to Bainbridge Island.

Forks was AWESOME. I felt like the biggest NERD. The whole time slightly embarrased of loving the story and the characters so much that I would visit the small town, specifically the high school, hospital, visitors center, Thriftway, Forks Outfitters, and two houses that claimed to be the home of the Cullens and the Swans.

Below: The Dr. Cullen Parking Spot, The Forks High School Sign, The Welcome to Forks Sign, and Bella's truck at the visitors center.

It was so beautiful. So much like Bella described it. Almost too Green. I loved every minute and would love going back. The whole town was "Bitten by Twilight". There were twilight stores, twilight menus, twilight themed hotel rooms. The lady at the visitors center was off her rocker and spoke as if Twilight was real. Ironically, I was okay with that.

Below: The sign on the Cullens home...written by Esme Cullen (the mom vampire), The twilight wall inside of the visitors center, Swan Residence, Beautiful Lake Crescent (mentioned in New Moon, where the hikers go missing), The Forks High School Sign.

I was so excited to visit La Push, home of the Quiluette Reservation where Jacob Black lives. The beach was beauiful! Below is First Beach, where Bella first learns of the "Cold Ones". We also went for a hike down to Second Beach. The hike was beautiful, the beach was heavenly.

That night we drove to Port Angeles! This was excited and SOOO embarrasing! We ate at the restaurant 'Bella Italia'. This was where Bella and Edward had their first date. We ordered the Mushroom Ravioli of course! The waiter could totally tell that we were Twilight Fans! We thought we were being inconspicuous.

I miss Forks already! I loved it!

Playing Catch-up

Wow! This past month has flown by so fast. It was a mix of studying, school, trips, more studying, family in town, birthdays, holidays, etc. Here's a quick run down of July.

Tyler has started going to the Miller track once a month for Wow Wednesdays. He loves these so much! He takes his car on the main track. He's done such a great job with the Prelude and finally gets to play around with it.
Lacey's birthday was on the 3rd. We went out to dinner and had friends and family over to hang out a play with fireworks.

I love Dawsen in this photo. She looks so mischievous holding that wrench.

On the 4th, Lacey went to the parade with Bret, Bama, and the kids. Tyler took advantage of the morning and went skating.

Ed, Janet, and Ashley came into town on the 4th to visit us and sight see Utah. We had a 4th of July BBQ.
Tyler, Bret, Dakota, and the kids took the skimboard surfer out and had fun playing the water.
That night we went down to the stadium to watch the Stadium of Fire show.

The next day Tyler raced autocross at the E-Center. My family and Ed's family came out that day to watch.
Tyler has started baaaing at Dawsen....yes baaa like a sheep. Sometimes she will baa back at him, but most the time she gets annoyed, as you can tell from the picture below.More to come!

Maui III

Snorkeling was one of our favorite activities in Maui. Thanks to the underwater camera, we are able to share our adventures with you!

Fishies and Coral. This was at the crater island Mokolini. It was beautiful. The water was so clear and calm.

Tyler learned how to dive down with his snorkel. I tried it, it's pretty hard. He got pretty deep.

We were lucky enough to see these HUGE sea turtles. They really scared me. In the distance, I saw this huge mass of something. Then we noticed it was a turtle. Pretty cool stuff. At one time there were two of them near us.

This one was a little smaller and more beneath us so we got a really good view.

Maui II

Maui was beautiful! We had such a great time. I loved that Tyler and I were able to share it with my mom and Dakota. Here are a few pics:

We spent a lot of time at the beach. Tyler is such a beach bum and loves skim boarding. This is him at Big Beach Makena, a top Skim Boarding spot in Maui. We couldn't really play in the water here, it was too rough. The water broke right on the shore, as you can see in that humongous crash--it was more like an explosion. So we got a lot of sun and relaxation!
The pictures above also include a pic of Tyler about to snorkel...but it looks like the wave is going to get him.

On another beach, I buried Dakota in the sand. It was actually pretty fun, hehe. I'm not sure which beach this was-there were way too many we visited. We went to Kaanapali Beach, Napili Beach, Makena Beach, Kapalua Beach, South Kaanapali Beach, and maybe more!

We took a really fun excursion to Molokini Crater and snorkeled with the fishies. You could see so deep and so many fun fish. This was beautiful! Here's Mom and Dakota getting ready to get into the water.

On the ride back from the crater, we were accompanied by dolphins. They were riding the bow of the boat. They were so cute and playful. There was even a baby dolphin.
We drove the Hana Coast one day, and it took all day. It was so beautiful! So many sharp cliffs, black sand beaches, hidden water falls, and beautiful scenery. There was one beach we went to that was a lava beach, sharp black rocks formed the shore. At the end of the Hana Coast was the Oheo Pools (7 Sacred Pools). We cliff dived and Mom swam to the waterfall.

There were so many beautiful flowers! I wish we could grow tropical plants here!

Mom and Dakota took a helicopter ride over Maui and to Molokai. Molokai was were they filmed the Jurassic Park scenery. They had such a fun time. I couldn't believe my Mom got in a helicopter. They're both so daring on vacation!
The middle of the island was so green and beautiful. We hiked up to the Ioa Needle in Ioa Valley. It was so beautiful!

The last night, we finished off the trip with a traditional Old Lahaina Luau. This was really fun!
