The Olsens: November 2010

I have had NO desire to blog lately. However, with the holidays coming up I figured it would be best to stay caught up. Here's a few things that have been happening the last month or so:

One of my besties is Kelly! It is odd that we seen her and her family more when they lived in Vegas than now that they live in Provo literally 4 minutes from us. Crazy how life goes. Anyway, Tyler and I went out to Coffee Pod with Kelly and Bula to hang out, catch up, and play with their adorable new addition Ireland.

So this is a random photo. Nothing reminds me more of God's glory than seeing the sun streaming through the clouds like this. I guess this is what I imagine it will look like when Jesus returns. Beautiful!

Another of my besties (Abby) and I lead the 9th and 10th grade girls with our youth group at our church (CenterPoint Church). We planned a "Girls Night In" with them at our house. The evening was full of cupcake decorating, nail polish, paraffin hand waxing, and facials. Who says girls can't have fun-we also played a very rough house game of HORSE on the pool table. If you have not played this with us-YOU MUST. It turns every refined person into a competitive rough housing child again. This proved when I was running around the table and SHOVED a 10th grader out of the way. We were all laughing so hard we were crying. I'm telling you, it was competitive instinct. It was certainly a night to remember.

*Abby was the first to see it...I guess she actually does read my blog. Whoops. She did say I can leave it up, but then she threatened revenge. So I think this fix is will work.

Our 4 year anniversary came and gone during October as well. We're trying to save money, and I was pretty stressed out because of my event coming up so we took it easy. We enjoyed dinner at Shoga, one of our new favorite sushi restaurants.

We then took part in an impromptu date activity at Cascade Golf Course. Now, I'm not a golf person-AT ALL. (On a side note, once when my friend Ashley Graf Davis and I were trying to put together some marking material for a golf tournament I was planning, we found out how much we actually DIDN'T KNOW about golf. The tournament was a 'Shotgun Start'. We phrased the sentence something like this: "At the sound of the gun..." We were informed that there actually wasn't a gun. Crazy huh!) Anyway, back to the story at hand. We enjoyed the evening hitting a bucket of balls on the driving range. It was actually pretty fun. I think this is the closest I'll get to liking golf. Next, we grabbed a cup of coffee and enjoyed the evening at home.

Two of my favorite children in the world are my niece Dawsen and my nephew Anjul. I feel so loved around them as Aunt Lacey. I love them SOOO much. They LOVE Uncle Tyler-but I can tell sometimes, they just don't know what to think about him. Anjul is always asking to have a sleep over and we always say 'next time'. So I figured it was time to follow through with our promise and have the kids over.

It started out with a lot of fun! More cupcake decorating, making Carmel Apples, and watching movies. Putting them to bed was another issue as I explained that there were no monsters, and no they couldn't sleep in our bed, and that strong Uncle Tyler was in the other room to protect them. This also contained a kicking fight between the kids because they shared the same bed and ended in me spanking Dawsen. Ahhh the joys of Aunthood :). The next morning-all was right as rain! They of course missed their parents, but were excited with all the pancakes they wanted. We went to church, they had fun at nursery, and maybe the best part-I dropped them off with mom and dad. Again, the joys of Aunthood :)

The main reason I'm happy to see October past us is the event I was planning for work. This fall was full of 3 events within 7 weeks of each other. These were large events, two planned out of the US. The Summit turned out great! 700 people, full of chaos, very successful. I don't usually get to enjoy hanging out with co workers during my events. I'm too busy or too tired. This year I made it a priority to at least have dinner with some friends once!
