Southern Utah 2013

After Zion's we visited the Best Friends Animal Sanctuary. Elijah loved seeing the kitties, but wasn't too sure about the bus ride.

Our our way to St. George we stopped to see the Pink Sand Dunes. E was sleeping, so we made it a quick stop. Tyler of course had to try skimming down the sand.

Elijah loved the hotel rooms. Of course he had his entourage with him.

Swimming in St. George on Father's Day. So relaxing!

Hmmm..what time is it? 12:30 exactly. Time for a nap and the drive home.

We stopped at a petting zoo in Scorpio. This was possibly the best part of our trip. Elijah LOVED the baby goats!

Zion National Park 2013

Normally our summer vacation dictates a nice trip to Southern California. Well this summer, with a toddler, baby on the way, and limited funds (due to said baby) we decided to explore a little closer to home.

Sadly, we are some of the worst Utahans around. We have all of this beautiful scenery around us, and we've only been to Moab...and not even all of it! So off to Zion National Park we went!

Our first stop was a drive up Kolob Canyons. It was beautiful! Elijah appreciated getting out of the car and running around.

Our destination was Springdale, where we stayed the next two nights.  Early the next morning we went straight to the park.

During the summer in Zion, they have the shuttles going to get to the hikes. This was Elijah's first time on a bus. You can bet he was excited and nervous! Oh and below is the face I get when I ask him to smile. Ya...perhaps the result of too many photos?? Maybe?

Our first hike was the Riverside Walk. Right at the beginning of the trail was a deer with no fear of being around humans. Elijah of course called her a puppy. After this he was pretty convinced there were puppies all over the park.

So if the deer was a puppy, what do you suppose this squirrel was? If you guessed a kitty, you're correct. However after a million of these things EVERYWHERE, Elijah got the hang of calling it a squirrel.

He was so excited to get out and play in the water!

Go ahead, make fun of my maternity shorts and non-no-show socks. Tyler did :D.

Hike to the Lower Emerald Pools. There was a deer and her babies there.

Next up...Tyler skimboarding in the Virgin River.

Elijah was pretty confident he could do it too!

How is this NOT adorable!

He LOVED it!

But, what's better than MUD!
