All my time living in Utah, I have never really SEEN or been to the Great Salt Lake. Of course, I have seen it from the air, or driving to Tooele...if that's actually the lake. I decided now was the time to do some local 'Utah' stuff.
We had a great time. We all went swimming in the lake. I was a little nervous, I heard there were lots of bugs, but it was alright. The water was so buoyant. You couldn't sink, only float. My legs constantly wanted to float above my head. The kids really liked it until they got their face in. Poor Dawsen swallowed some water. I did too, and realized why she was crying so bad. The salt hurts your throat and you don't want to breathe.
Besides all the painful stuff, lol, it was a lot of fun. Just make sure to keep your head above water...and don't touch your eyes ;).
After swimming, we drove around the island a little bit. There were so many Bison (or are they buffalo). They were so close to us. Dakota really liked seeing them as well.

We stayed until sunset. It was really pretty!
